Description
The garden wall, railings, gates, and gate piers located to the south-east of the Great House date from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. Constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and wrought iron, the structure features a low front wall in a U-plan with a central entrance and side walls that return to the house. The side walls are made of brick and topped with stone copings and pilaster buttresses. The front wall is made of ashlar and is topped by three bays of railings, which are divided by ornamental pilasters that have wrought iron finials. The gate piers are also made of ashlar, featuring panelled designs with pyramidal caps and moulded bases. The overthrow is plain, and the wrought iron gate consists of two leaves.
