Description
Church Cottage is a house that dates back to the 14th century and was extensively rebuilt in the early 19th century, with some late 20th-century additions. It features a timber frame clad in coursed rubble that is partially roughcast, topped with a tile roof. The building has four framed bays aligned east to west and includes an internal gable-end stack on the west side.
The north front is two storeys high and has four 2-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light casement windows flanking a central entrance that is covered by a half-glazed tiled porch. To the left, there is a single-storey late 20th-century extension that serves as a garage.
Inside, there is one exposed cruck truss with an arch-braced collar. Above the collar, there are two cusped raking struts that create two trefoils and a quatrefoil, indicating that this truss was originally part of an open hall. While very little other framing is visible, it is likely that more is concealed behind plaster.
