Description

Portway Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century that has been restored and extended in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill beneath a slate roof. The building has been extended in painted brick with a felted flat roof. It consists of two framed bays aligned north to south, with a stack located on the rear (west) wall and an extension on the north gable. The east front is one storey with an attic, which is lit by two 20th-century flat-roofed dormers. The ground floor includes two 3-light casements, and the entrance is located to the right through a 20th-century single-storey extension. The framing displays five rectangular panels in height, and the gable-end trusses feature decorative diagonal framing.
