Description
The Upper House is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was refronted in the early 18th century and restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill, and the front is finished in roughcast brick with a tiled roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a subsidiary range to the north-west and the main range aligned north-east to south-west, featuring external gable-end stacks made of brick.
The south front has two storeys and includes a band at the ground floor level. There are five timber cross-windows with brick sills. The central entrance is highlighted by a moulded wooden architrave that frames a six-panelled door. The framing is exposed on the north gable, consisting of six rectangular panels in height. The truss includes three struts to the collar, V-struts at the apex, and trenched purlins.
