Description
Apple Cross Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century that has been restored and extended in the late 20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill set on a rubble base, topped with a plain tile roof. The building consists of two framed bays that are aligned north-west to south-east, with a rebuilt external rubble chimney that has tiled offsets and a detached brick stack at the north-west end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, collar and tie-beam end trusses with V-struts above the collar, and three struts below the collar at the south-east end.
On the south-west front elevation, all the windows are from the 20th century. There is an oriel window with a hipped roof and two square windows on the ground floor, along with two gabled dormers that have 2-light casements. The main entrance, located to the right, features a 20th-century stable door flanked by the square windows. Additionally, there is a 20th-century range at the rear that lies parallel to the original building.
