Description
This barn, located about 20 yards north of Hopley's Green Farmhouse, dates from the 17th to 18th century. It features a sandstone rubble plinth, a timber frame with woven oak infill, and weatherboarding, topped with corrugated iron roofs. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of five structural bays on the left, three in the center, and one on the right, aligned roughly east to west.
The south elevation shows the five-bay section on the left, which includes a central wagon entry that is obscured by early 20th-century corrugated buildings. The central three-bay section has a higher rubble plinth and two ledged doors with strap hinges, while the right section is lower and contains one ledged door. The frames are constructed with three panels high from the cills to the wall-plates. Inside the five-bay section, there are wind-braces, triple angle struts, and pegged king-posts, while the other sections have raking struts. Hopley's Green Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
