Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th century, with possible origins in an earlier period and alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and timber-frame, with brick and plaster infill. The roof is tiled, with sections of Welsh slate, and features sandstone and brick stacks. The building is rectangular, aligned roughly northeast to southwest, and includes a cellar, two storeys, and attics.

The north elevation has a window arrangement of one, two, and one window, with late 19th-century casements of two lights beneath three gables. A small, mid-20th-century top vent is located in the left-hand gable. A three-light contemporary casement is in the centre gable, and an early 20th-century window of six segmentally headed lights is on the right-hand gable. A ledged door provides entry in the central gable. The tops of the two left gables are decorated with oak, concave-sided lozenges, each brace having a spur. Matching patterns have been painted on the brickwork of the right-hand gable. A small lean-to is attached to the left side. A recessed lower range is located on the right-hand return of the right gable, with its front concealed by a corrugated iron lean-to; a sandstone and brick stack is on its right gable.

The south elevation has a 1:3 arrangement of early 20th-century timber-framed gables with roughcast infill. A glazed, off-centre porch, also from the early 20th century, contains a ledged door with strap hinges, which may be 17th century. The interior was inaccessible at the time of a survey in November 1986. Historic records indicate the farmhouse incorporates a medieval hall and include 17th-century panelling and a fireplace.
