Description

Lower Wootton Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 16th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick infill, as well as a sandstone rubble extension. The roofs are tiled and have sandstone rubble and brick stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with arms extending to the north-west and north-east, and an extension to the south-west. It has two storeys and an attic.

On the south-east elevation, there are a total of three windows in a 1:2 arrangement, featuring three-light early 20th-century casements, along with a recessed gable front to the left. The ground floor includes a prominent five-light mullioned and transomed window in the gable, with additional three- and two-light casements to the right. There is an entry with a ledged door located to the right side of the gable, which jetties at the first floor and attic levels. To the left, there is an attached two-window sandstone rubble extension, which was likely used as a granary in the past.

The north elevation has two sandstone rubble side stacks. Inside, the farmhouse features raking strut trusses above heightened wall framing and heavy chamfered ceiling beams on the ground floor.
