Description

ALLENSMORE CP - SO 43 NW 2/17 Meer Court 20.10.52 - II Farmhouse. Probably C17 with later alterations. Timber-frame with brick infill, sandstone -and brick partly rendered. Tiled roofs and brick stacks. L-plan with main range aligned north-west/south-east and small wing returning towards south-west from north-west end. Two storeys. South elevation has three windows, mid-C19 casements of two lights. Ground floor has two casements each of three lights under cambered heads to centre and left and another of two lights to right hand side. Front external stack rises between the two cambered openings. Ledged door with fillets to right of centre. Gable front to left is partly masked by single-storey mid-C19 southern extension. To left of main range is a brick end stack. Frame is of thin scantling forming irregular squares partly obscured by render. North elevation has timber-framed lean-to extension. Interior noted as having heavy chamfered ceiling beams (RCHM Vol I, p 16).
