Description
Cagebrook House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the mid-18th century, late 19th century, and early 20th century. It is constructed of brick and features hipped Welsh slate roofs and brick stacks. The house has a rectangular plan oriented north-north-east to south-south-west, with a cellar and three storeys.
The west elevation showcases the main section with five windows, which are glazing bar sashes. There are plat bands that divide the storeys, deep eaves brackets, and panelled stacks. A central porch features a late 19th-century panelled door, with gauged brick heads and burnt headers on either side. To the left, there is a lower three-storey addition with three windows, which includes a canted bay window made of wood that rises through two storeys to a balustrade. Adjacent to the canted bay window is a tripartite sash window on the ground floor. At the rear of this lower addition is a mid- or late 19th-century service wing with two storeys.
Inside, the principal ground floor room of the main section has a dentilled cornice, and the first-floor landing features turned balusters leading to a small gallery.
