Description
The White House is a house, possibly dating from the 17th century with earlier origins, and subject to later alterations. It is constructed of timber frame and brick, with rendered surfaces, and has a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with arms extending to the west-northwest and east-northeast. It has two storeys and an attic. The main east-facing elevation features a 2:1 window arrangement, with early 20th-century two- and three-light casements, drip moulds, and two gables on the left side, each containing a two-light casement. A six-panelled door is situated within a gabled porch to the left, positioned beneath and between the two gables. A stack is located to the right of the right-hand gable. The southwest-facing elevation has two gables and a single central, semi-circular headed sash window. The interior reveals heavy ceiling beams, characterised by lambs tongue run-out stops and asymmetrical pyramidal chamfers. Flagged floors are present. The attic has trusses with steeply angled raking struts, and a ledged door featuring foliated strap hinges in the shape of fleurs-de-lis.
