Description
The Manor House is an 18th-century house with later alterations, located in Eaton Bishop. It is constructed of brick, with some areas finished in render, and features a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan that runs east to west and consists of two storeys with a cellar.
The north elevation displays five windows that are glazing bar sashes, each topped with gauged brick heads. The central doorway is adorned with an open pediment and a fanlight. There is a plat band between the storeys and a brick eaves cornice. The rear elevation features a central sash window for the staircase, which has a round head and a brick semi-circular hoodmould.
Inside, the house boasts a five-flight oak dog-leg staircase with turned newels and stick balusters. The principal ground floor rooms to the west are enhanced by marble fireplaces and large double-leaved doors with fluted architrave. The ground floor also includes six-panelled doors, while the upper rooms feature doors with right-angled strap hinges. The attic contains an early 19th-century cast iron fireplace with a raised basket. Notably, a third storey was demolished in 1957. The Manor House is included for its group value.
