SO 54 NW MARDEN CP WALKERS GREEN

4/59 Brook Farmhouse

  • 20.10.52 GV II Farmhouse. Probably C17 to C18. Timber-frame mostly four panels high; slate roofs, hipped to main centre part; local type stone external stacks to north-west and south-east sides. Plan approaches a T: two-bay C17 centre block with large mid-C19 lean-to on the left hand side enclosing side stack and a two-bay gabled projecting cross-wing to right hand side with lean-to across ground floor of inner return and side stack to right flank. Three-bay C18 wing protrudes to rear of right hand stack. Two storeys. South-west elevation: 2:1 windows, left block has C19 casements, one to ground floor next to forward projecting range of three lights and two to the first floor; projecting gable front to right has 3-light case- ments, the ground floor one is mid-C20, the first floor are late C19. Entrance in late C19 lean-to to left side of front projecting range. (RCHM Vol II, p 139).
