Description
Brickhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with some refronting in the early 18th century and alterations made in the late 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick and a hipped slate roof, arranged in an L-plan, with the main front facing roughly south and a return wing on the left side.
The south elevation has two storeys and three windows, with a brick end stack on the right and three clustered brick diagonally-set shafts on the left. There is a projecting brick band that is three courses deep at the first floor level. The windows are regularly spaced, consisting of 2-light 19th-century casements, with those on the ground floor set under segmental heads. The central entrance features a ledged late 19th-century door.
Both the main block and the cross-wing display exposed timber-framing, with four panels high on the right sides. The cross-wing has undergone late 19th-century alterations and extensions at the rear, which are also in brick.
