Description
Hawkersland Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with alterations made in the mid- and late 19th century. It features a rubble plinth, a timber-frame structure with brick and plaster infill, a slate roof, and a local stone external stack at the south end. The building consists of two ranges: the main range is aligned north/south, while the other range, attached to the north end, projects east from a smaller earlier section. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a three-bay main range and a two-bay projecting section.
On the east elevation, the main range has a raised roof, likely from the early or mid-19th century, and includes mid-20th century steel casements. There is one three-light window to the left of the entry, a similar window above it, and a third window with two lights above the entry. To the right of the entry is a small casement window. The projecting range on the right features a two-light mid-19th century casement on the first floor above a high rubble ground storey. Additionally, there is a late 19th century lean-to on the south side of the projecting range, which has a two-light casement between two ledged doors.
