Description
Leystone Bridge is a road bridge over the River Lugg, originally built in the 17th century and extended in the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble and is aligned east to west. The approach parapets are splayed, with the north-west parapet featuring revetments, while the north-east parapet returns almost parallel to the river bank. The bridge has a distinct hump-back profile with four spans and flat-topped parapets. On the south elevation, the left-hand arch from the 18th century is segmental headed, featuring a keystone set in a recessed rectangular panel. There are two semi-circular headed arches from the 17th century on either side of the raised arch, which has brick voussoirs.
