Description

No. 18 Church Street is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble, with some areas rendered, and features 20th-century pantile roofs that are steeply pitched. The building has dressed stone details, including a single coped gable with kneelers and two gable stacks along with a single ridge stack, one of which is set diagonally.

The house has two storeys and four bays, with a lower two-storey addition to the east. The windows include 19th-century leaded casements and 20th-century casements. The north front features a lean-to 19th-century addition and a garage on the left, with a setback two-storey addition that has a pair of garage doors and a casement to the right. The main north front has a central door with a heavy stone surround, flanked by single casements. Above the door, there is a central blocked opening, with a 20th-century casement to the left and a glazing bar sash to the right.

On the south side, there is a large 19th-century leaded casement on the left and three 20th-century casements on the right. Above, there are three casements and a tiny fixed light. The interior includes two chamfered span beams and a fireplace bresummer, all with stops, as well as an unusual 19th-century six-panel door. A single bay to the west was demolished around 1975.
