Description
This is a canal milepost located on the east side of the Chesterfield Canal, southeast of Field Farm. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The milepost is made of stone and is slightly tapered towards the top, featuring a flat head that is rounded at the edges, with a chip on the top left side. It is inscribed with the number '36', indicating the distance from Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Canal was constructed between 1771 and 1777.
