Description
This canal milepost, located on the south side of the Chesterfield Canal, dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is made of stone and features a rounded head with the inscription '40', which indicates the distance from Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Canal itself was constructed between 1771 and 1777.
