Description
The Duck is an inn built in the late 18th century, constructed from brick and topped with a plain tile roof. It features a rendered plinth, a sill band, a first-floor band, and dentillated eaves, along with hipped roofs. The building has three rear wall stacks, a single large ridge stack, and an additional ridge stack on the rear range. The central block is three storeys tall, flanked by two-storey and single-storey wings, creating a five-bay façade.
The prominent central canted bay has a heavily rusticated opening with a 20th-century door, flanked by single 20th-century glazing bar casements set in rubbed brick heads. Above this, there is a central glazing bar sash flanked by single glazing bar casements, all within round-headed openings. Above again, there are three smaller glazing bar casements. The flanking two-storey wings feature single glazing bar sashes, with single glazing bar casements above, all in rubbed brick heads. Each single-storey wing has two glazing bar casements.
To the left, there is a 20th-century brick link with a canted brick porch that connects to a 19th-century outbuilding, which is also brick and has a pantile roof, standing two storeys high with three windows. The front of the building is symmetrical, showcasing two glazing bar French windows in segmental heads, with three glazing bar casements above, also in segmental heads.
