Description
Wiseton Stables is a stable range built in 1899. It is constructed from brick and features plain tile, pantile, and lead roofs, along with stone dressings. The building has one single and one double brick band, dentillated eaves, two ridge stacks, and is two storeys high with twenty bays, arranged around an enclosed courtyard.
The central gatehouse projects forward and has a round arched entrance with timber gates and banded rustication, featuring projecting keystones, one of which is inscribed with the year 1899. Above the entrance, there are ashlar coped ramps leading to the first stage, which includes a clock set in a keystoned surround. The pyramidal roof is topped with a bellcote that has six turned wood balusters and a lead tent roof with two finials.
To the left of the gatehouse, there are ten grilled ventilators with rubbed brick heads. Beyond these, there are two-light mullion and transom casements, with nine similar casements above. To the right, there are nine similar casements on both floors, with the lower ones also featuring rubbed brick heads.
The courtyard contains fifteen stables to the north, five stables and a groom's house to the east, and a boundary wall, gateway, and a five-bay carriage house to the south.
