Description

The Grange is a late 17th-century farmhouse constructed of colourwashed brick with a pantile roof. It has a brick plinth, a band to the first floor, moulded eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. There are two gable stacks and an additional gable stack to the right. The farmhouse has two storeys plus garrets, and five windows on the front. A central glazed door with overlight is flanked by two glazing bar sashes with rubbed brick heads. Above these are five similar sashes. The left gable has a central 19th-century door, and above that a wall tie inscribed "J.S." and a 20th-century three-light casement. A 19th-century brick extension to the right, also with a pantile roof, has two storeys and two bays, featuring a 20th-century mullion and transom casement on the ground floor and a two-light casement above. A 20th-century single-storey lean-to to the right has a doorway and a single casement. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with twist balusters.
