Description

Abbey Farm is a house dating from the late 17th century and late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and red brick, which is rendered and painted. The building features pantile roofs with two gable stacks. The 18th-century wing on the right is slightly taller and has a brick-coped right gable, with a projecting red brick stack at the rear.

The house is two storeys and has an L-plan, with each wing consisting of a single bay. There is a single-storey porch across the re-entrant angle, which has a coped parapet and a half-glazed door with a flat projecting hood supported on brackets. To the left of the porch is a 20th-century casement window, while to the right is a wooden transom and mullion two-light casement. Above, to the left, is a three-light casement, and to the right is a two-light wooden transom and mullion casement.

At the rear of the earlier wing, there are lower two-storey and single-storey wings, which are also rendered and painted with pantile roofs and single left label stacks. These wings include a doorway with a wooden door and plain surround, a fixed glazing bar light to the left, another doorway with a wooden door and plain surround, and a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash. Above, there is a narrow glazing bar sash with a glazing bar sash to the left.
