Description

Ivy House is a house dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped pantile roof. The building has a brick plinth, first floor and eaves bands, rebated eaves, and is topped with two ridge stacks and two gable stacks, one of which is external on the west side. The house is two storeys tall, plus garrets, and has a T-plan layout. The exterior is partly colourwashed.

The south front showcases a central 19th-century gabled bay, with a 17th-century projecting bay to the left that has a shouldered shaped gable. There is a modern porch with a lead roof at the entrance, featuring a glazed door on the left and two round-headed glazing bar lights on the right, along with a single casement. Above this, to the left, is a blocked opening and a single 20th-century casement; to the right, there is a casement with a segmental head, followed by another 20th-century casement. Further up, there is another blocked opening and a single light.

To the left, there is an L-plan single-storey service wing made of brick with a pantile roof, which includes a door and three 20th-century casements. The east front has three 20th-century casements, with a single casement and a blocked opening with a segmental head above. The north side features a central blocked opening with a round-headed glazing bar sash above, flanked by single Yorkshire sashes. Above this, there is another central blocked opening flanked by single Yorkshire sashes, all of which have segmental heads. The service wing on the right has a 20th-century part-glazed door and three casements.
