This canal milepost, located to the southeast of Shaw Lock 62, dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is made of stone and features a rounded head with the inscription '42', indicating the distance in miles from Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Canal itself was constructed between 1771 and 1777.
