Description

Gothic Cottage is a house built in 1834, constructed from brick with terracotta details. It features a pantile roof with terracotta coped gables and two brick gable stacks. The main front is two storeys high and has three bays, painted white. The central doorway is set in a slightly projecting porch with a tiled roof, featuring a pointed moulded arched doorway with a plank door and a Gothick tracery fan light. This doorway is flanked by gabled buttresses topped with finials. Above the doorway, there is a coat-of-arms and ornate decoration at the eaves, along with a shield inscribed with the year 1834. On either side of the doorway are pointed arched windows in moulded surrounds, which have Gothick glazing bar sashes and ornate hoods and aprons. Above, there are three similar pointed arched windows, with the central one flanked by projecting, canopied niches that contain statues. The eaves are adorned with Gothick tracery.
