Description
No. 38 Church Walk is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rockfaced and coursed squared rubble, topped with a concrete tile roof. The building features ashlar dressings, quoins, and three coped gables, along with three external gable stacks. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged in an L-plan with a rear range that is roofed parallel to the front.
The facade includes a projecting central bay with a moulded recessed ashlar doorcase and a 20th-century pedimented surround. This is flanked by single 20th-century bow windows set in the original chamfered openings. Above the central glazing bar fixed light, there are single 20th-century casements in original chamfered surrounds. The rear wing features a single mullioned window in a chamfered reveal on each floor.
