Description
High Road is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century, was raised around 1800, and remodeled in 1851, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has pantile roofs. It features an off-centre brick ridge stack and similar corbelled gable stacks, with coped gables that have kneelers topped with ball finials.
The house is two storeys high and has a four-window range arranged in a 1:3 pattern. Most of the windows are cross casements with chamfered stone mullions and surrounds. The main block, located to the right, has a central two-light window flanked by three-light windows. Below this, there is a porch with a shaped gable and finials, which covers a round-arched doorway leading to a half-glazed door. A datestone is set into the gable, and beyond it are larger three-light windows.
To the left is the service block, which features a three-light window and a recessed square panel with a monogram to its right. Below this, there is a three-light window on the left and an elliptical arched door on the right, which has a small overlight and label mould. The door is a board door with strap hinges. To the left of the service block, there is a gabled rear wing with a coped side wall stack and a single-storey lean-to. This estate farmhouse was remodeled by the Brownlow family of Belton House.
