Description
The wash house, boundary wall, and railing located between numbers 6 and 7 High Road in Manthorpe date from the mid-19th century and were restored in 1990. The structure is built of brick and features a pantile roof with a coped brick ridge stack that has triangular ribs. It is a single cell with a board door that has a brick flat arch and a label mould above it, along with a ventilator. On either side of the wash house, there is a wire railing that connects it to the roadside boundary wall. The boundary wall is made of rubble and has brick coping, with a central wrought-iron gate flanked by gabled capstones. This utility building was provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House.
