Description
A pair of estate cottages, now houses, dating from the mid-19th century, with later 20th-century additions and alterations. The cottages are constructed of brick with pantile roofs, and feature two brick gable stacks with square, coped, twisted double stacks. They have cogged eaves. The two-storey front has a two-window range; the ground-floor windows are larger than those above. Two through-eaves dormers, with steep pitched coped gables and two-light casements (the one to the left being renewed), are visible. Below, a three-light wooden framed cross casement is on the right, and a renewed window to the left. Each side return has a lean-to porch towards the rear, the one on the right featuring a brick gable over the door. These cottages were built as accommodation for workers on the Belton estate, provided by the Brownlow family of Belton House.
