Description
This is a mid-19th century estate cottage, later converted into a house, located on Low Road, Manthorpe. Built for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House, it has been altered in the late 20th century. The cottage is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, topped with renewed pantile roofs, and has two coped stone gable stacks. Designed in the Tudor Revival style, the cottage features quoins and coped gables with kneelers. It is a single storey structure with attic space, and has a three-window front. The reglazed windows are set within chamfered stone surrounds and feature mullions. Three gabled through-eaves dormers are visible, each with a two-light window. The central entrance has a board door with ornamental hinges and a wooden surround and is flanked by three-light cross casement windows. To the right is a single-storey lean-to addition with a three-light metal-framed casement window incorporating stone mullions.
