Description
This is a mid-19th century estate cottage, later converted into a house, located on High Road in Manthorpe. It was originally provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton Hall. The cottage is built of coursed squared stone with brick gables, ashlar and brick dressings, and has a steep-pitched renewed pantile roof. It features two prominent, coped brick gable stacks. The design is in a mid-18th century vernacular style, intended to resemble the nearby property at No. 17. The cottage is two storeys high with a two-window range. The windows are mainly casements with 19th-century cast-iron diamond pane glazing. Each front gable contains a two-light window above a three-light window. The cottage has undergone alterations in the late 20th century.
