Description
No. 4 High Road is a former pair of estate cottages, now a house, built in the mid-19th century with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with moulded brick dressings and has a pantile roof. It features two corbelled gable stacks with twisted square double flues and cogged eaves. The structure is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The windows are late 20th-century plastic framed casements. There are two through-eaves dormers with steep pitched coped gables and brick flat arches. Below these, there are two larger windows with brick flat arches and label moulds. Each side of the building has a 19th-century lean-to porch towards the rear. These estate cottages were originally provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House.
