Description
Estate Houses Nos. 85-88, located on Denton Main Street, were originally built as a block of four cottages in the mid-19th century. These cottages, which are now combined into one house, are constructed from coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar quoins and brick dressings. The roof is made of pantiles and features raised stone coped gables, along with two double shafted brick wall stacks positioned in the valley.
The building has parallel ranges that consist of four square units set back to back. The two-storey, two-bay gable elevation facing the road includes two tripartite glazing bar casements, with two smaller similar windows on the first floor. The side elevations are six bays wide and feature two planked doors, with single two-light glazing bar casements on either side. Between the doors, there are two small single-light glazing bar casements, and on the first floor, there are two similar windows. All openings are adorned with chamfered wooden lintels and brick hood moulds.
