Description
Nos 1, 3 and 11 Station Road is a terrace of three cottages, originally six, dating from the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared coal measures sandstone rubble, featuring ashlar dressings and quoins. The west gable displays cusp-moulded stonework, while the east end has a plain gable. The building has gable and ridge brick stacks, except for the west gable, which is made of ashlar. The front roof slope is covered with Welsh slates, while the rear is finished with corrugated sheeting.
The structure is two storeys high with eight bays. It originally had six doorways, but three have been adapted to form 2-light windows with large quoined surrounds and lintels that have arched soffits. The two end cottages are double fronted and feature stacked 3-light casements beneath segmental arched heads. The remaining cottages, originally single bay, have been combined to create a third dwelling in the center of the range or to supplement the end cottages. The doors are plain.
