Description
31 Station Road is an early 19th-century tollhouse constructed from ashlar coal measures sandstone, which rises from a large block plinth. It features a shallow pyramidal roof covered with Welsh slate that has a boldly oversailing eaves and an ashlar central square chimney stack with a moulded cornice. The building has a square plan and is single-storey with two bays on the south-west elevation. At the north-west end, there is a plain doorway with a projecting cambered lintel supported by block corbels, leading to a plain planked door. To the south of the doorway, there are two windows; one is now blocked with ashlar masonry, while the other is a simple timber cross window with casements.
