Description
Lyall and Co is a shop located on the north side of Market Place in Market Deeping. It was built in the late 17th century and underwent alterations in the mid 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features an asbestos slate roof with a single yellow brick gable stack. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high with a two-bay front.
The facade includes a moulded plinth and a cornice with modillions. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door with an overlight, while to the right is a two-light shop window with a wooden panelled surround. To the left, there is a broad semi-circular arch with key and impost blocks. On the first floor, there is a glazing bar sash window and a fixed glazing bar light, both with moulded architraves. The building also shows evidence of two blocked earlier windows, which have hacked back architraves. At the rear, there is a tall four-light ovolo moulded mullioned window and a small Gothick traceried fixed light.
