Description
The Deeping Stage is a hotel built in 1802, with minor alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston slate roof with stone coped gables. The building has a parallel range plan and is two storeys high with attics, presenting a four-bay front that includes a first-floor cill band, a moulded cornice, and a plain parapet.
The entrance is marked by an off-centre basket arch with imposts and stepped keyblocks, now featuring a recessed 20th-century glazed screen. To the left of the entrance is a single tripartite glazing bar sash window, while to the right are two similar windows. The first floor has four additional similar windows, all with ashlar lintels and stepped keyblocks. At the centre of the parapet is a pedimented square panel inscribed with "JMA 1802." The roof is adorned with four gabled dormers that have dentillated cornices and rendered cheeks. Inside, there is a stick baluster stair.
