Description
Barclays Bank is a former house that has been converted into a bank. It dates from the late 18th century and was altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings. It features a Collyweston slate roof with a stone-coped gable and a plain tiled hipped end on the right side. There are single gable and ridge ashlar stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and stands three stories tall with a three-bay front that includes three flush ashlar bands.
The central entrance has a 20th-century door with a traceried fanlight and an open dentillated pediment above the wooden doorcase, flanked by two broad 20th-century glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three original narrower glazing bar sash windows, while the second floor features three small square windows of a similar style. All windows have raised stepped keyblocks. On the right side of the front, there is another similar doorcase with a glazing bar sash window to the right and three matching windows on the upper floors, all with corresponding keyblocks.
