Description
This is a former police station and house, dating from 1880 and built in a style reminiscent of the 17th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Collyweston slate roof. The roof features stone coped gables, kneelers, ridge and eaves ball finials, and two gable stacks with paired shafts and cornices. It has an L-shaped layout.
The front of the building is two storeys and four bays, with the left-hand bay projecting and having a separate gable. A planked door is centrally placed within a chamfered ashlar surround, topped with a shield under a hood mould. To the right is a two-storey, three-light canted bay window with a hipped roof. To the left of the door is a two-light window and a four-light window. The first floor has a single two-light and four-light window, with a smaller gable over one. A plaque reading "AD 1880" is set into the advanced gable. To the left is a planked passage doorway with stepped coping and a recessed plaque reading “Kesteven Police”. The building is included on the listing primarily for its contribution to the group value of the area.
