Description

The Town Hall, built in 1835 and possibly designed by Thomas Pilkington, is a two-storey building located on the north side of Market Place in Market Deeping. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is made of Collyweston stone, with a raised stone-coped ashlar gable and cornice, and there is a moulded ridge ashlar stack with a cornice.

The front of the building has three bays and includes a plinth and a moulded string course. The entrance is off-centre, consisting of six panelled double doors set within a double chamfered Tudor arched doorway. To the left of the entrance are a pair of pointed leaded lights with a moulded hood, and further along is a broad archway that now contains a four-light latticed window.

On the first floor, there is a central canted oriel window with quatrefoil panels at the base, featuring single fixed pointed latticed lights and an embattled hipped ashlar roof. This oriel is flanked by single fixed pointed lights, each with moulded hoods. At the gable, there is a small pierced quatrelobe set within an ashlar surround.

Inside, the Town Hall features a stick baluster stair with a curved handrail, which leads to the offices located above the ground floor waiting room.
