Description
The Grey House is a house built in 1681, with later raising in the mid-18th century and alterations in the early 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is made of Collyweston slate, featuring stone coped gables and three ashlar gable stacks, one of which has been lowered. The building has an L-plan and is two stories tall, with an irregular four-bay front. The right two bays are taller and have been raised.
The entrance features an off-centre six-panel door with a traceried fanlight, panelled reveals, and an open dentillated pediment supported by fluted and reeded wooden pilasters. This is flanked by single tripartite bow windows, which have glazing bar sashes with Gothick arched and dentillated friezes and a flat lead roof. To the left, there is a 20th-century four-light glazing bar casement. On the first floor, there are two three-light 20th-century glazing bar casements on the left and two 18th-century glazing bar sashes on the right, which have ashlar lintels with keystones.
