Description

102 and 104 Church Street is a pair of houses and a shop dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring flush ashlar bands, quoins, and dressings. They have a Collyweston slate roof with stone coped gables and a pair of ashlar gable stacks that include plinths and cornices.

The structure is two storeys high with attics and has an irregular five-bay front. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a six-panel door set within a moulded wooden doorcase topped with a dentillated pediment. To the left of the door is a glazing bar sash window under a timber lintel, while to the right is a 20th-century glazing bar bow window. There are also a pair of half-glazed double doors and another glazing bar sash window.

On the first floor, there are four glazing bar sashes. Most openings have ashlar lintels with keystones. The walling shows evidence of blocked earlier windows. The roof includes two gabled dormers with leaded casements and slate-hung cheeks, supported by a through butt purlin roof.
