TF 1209-1309 MARKET DEEPING CHURCH STREET (west side)

The description includes Nos. 4 and 6 Stamford Road. Pair of houses, now bank, shop and offices. 1785, altered C19 and C20. Squared coursed limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings. Collyweston slate roof, stone coped gables, pair of gable stacks, one ashlar, the other rendered brick. L-plan. 2 storey plus attics, 4 bay front. C19 flush panel door with plain fanlight, in moulded doorcase with dentillated open pediment. To right a a C20 glazing bar fixed light with ashlar lintel, a glazed door, and a further flush panel door with doorcase and pediment matching that on the left. Beyond to the right a C20 shop window and doorway under modern fascia. To first floor 4 glazing bar sashes. That on the left is in a moulded wooden surround with cornice. The 3 on the right have ashlar lintels with raised stepped keyblocks. Similar lintels occur over ground floor openings. In the roof, at eaves level, are 3 gabled 2 light dormers with slate hung cheeks. The Stamford Road side front has a datestone inscribed "JL 1785" beneath a small cornice, at eaves level.
