Description
Baxters Butchery and Coles the Jewellers is a shop located on High Street in Chipping Norton. It was built in the early 18th century and later refaced in the 20th century with ashlar stone. The building features a gabled stone-tiled roof with dressed stone copings and a stone-based stack at the northern end topped with a brick cap.
The structure has three storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range. It includes a moulded cornice, a moulded string course on the first floor, and moulded architraves around the windows. There are two pedimented dormers with six panes each, and the upper two floors have twelve-pane sash windows. The three main bays of the building slightly project and are flanked by narrow bays that have blind panels at the first-floor level. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front.
