Description
29 St John Street is a shop that dates from the early to mid 18th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and may still have some timber-framing inside. It features a renewed tile roof with fishscale bands, a coped gable on the right side, and a brick end stack. The shop has two low storeys and a two-window range. There is a platt band above the ground floor, a top cornice, and a brick parapet. The 19th-century shop front includes an entablature over the window and a recessed half-glazed door to the right. The left end has a segmental-headed window with a brick sill and a 16-pane sash, while the first floor has similar windows with 4/8-pane sashes. There is also a rear wing.
