Description

Duart House is a house that has been converted into an office. It was built in the early 19th century and features a stucco exterior with ashlar dressings and a 20th-century tile roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and is designed in the Georgian style, consisting of two storeys with a three-window range. To the right, there is a three-storey, two-window, double-depth wing.

Key architectural features include a first-floor sill band and a top parapet, along with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course on the wing, which also has coped gables. The entrance, located at the right end, has a segmental arch and a doorcase supported by long brackets leading to a modillioned cornice; above the door is an overlight for the four-panel door.

On the left end, there is a segmental-headed window with a brick sill and a four-over-six-over-four pane horned sash. The wing features a similar window with an ashlar sill and a tripartite sash with a four-over-twelve-over-four pane configuration, flanked by panelled pilaster strips. There is also a small segmental-headed window on the right end with a plate glass horned sash.

The first floor has windows with brick sills above the band, featuring twelve-pane horned sashes. The wing has windows with twelve-pane sashes, and a second-floor window with four-pane sashes, although the lower glazing bars are missing. The wing also has truncated lateral stacks. The building is included for its group value.
