Description
No. 22 on St John Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has undergone some alterations over time. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick, with some timber framing visible and exposed brick at the rear. It features a tiled roof with a large brick stack at one end. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. A cogged brick cornice runs along the top. The entrance is located to the right of a wide 20th-century bowed shop window that has small-paned glazing. On the first floor, there are segmental-headed windows with 12-paned horned sashes, and the attic includes a gabled dormer with a two-light small-paned casement. The right side of the building reveals some exposed square framing on the rear wing, which has a brick gable from the 19th or 20th century and a small brick stack. Inside, some timber framing and chamfered beams can be seen, although the interior has only been partially inspected.
