Description
No. 24 St John Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It was likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has a plastered return. It features a tile roof with brick end stacks and is designed in the Georgian style, complete with a top cornice.
The structure has three storeys and a two-window range. The early 20th-century shop front includes a fascia and two entrances with half-glazed doors, as well as leaded upper lights in the windows, which continue around the left return. The upper windows have sills; the first-floor windows feature 16-pane sashes with moulded frames and rubbed brick flat arches above them, while the second-floor windows have small-paned horizontally sliding sashes. At the rear, there is a gabled wing and a hipped wing, both of which have altered windows.
