Description

RUSKINGTON JUBILEE STREET TF 05 SE (west side) 4/52 Nos 6 and 8 25.6.85 - II Pair of cottages. c.1886. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with decorated ridge tiles. 2 decorated brick ridge stacks. Single storey. 4-bay. 2 central recessed doorways, now partially blocked by 2-light casements with round-headed fanlights, in moulded brick surrounds with ornately decorated imposts. All under a projecting hood with ornate barge-boarding. Either side are single projecting gabled wings, each with a single window in a slightly projecting gabled panel. The windows are 3-light round-headed windows, with circular tracery, in moulded brick arches with ashlar side columns and ornately carved ashlar capitals. Both sets of gables are ashlar coped with ornate ashlar kneelers and finials, plus elaborately dentilated brick eaves. Each of these ornate ashlar kneelers has a word carved on, and together they read "TEATOTAL HOUSES, VICTORIA JUBILEE".
